The film i chose to analyse its titles was the film Divergent. I had to see what order the titles come up in the opening and how they were presenting in order for it to be eye-catching and appealing to the audience.
Order of the titles:
The first thing that appears on the opening of the film Divergent is the production company. In this case, the company is called 'Summit Entertainment' which is a 'Lionsgate Company'. The company appears on the screen at 0.04 seconds and lasts for 6 seconds. In the background of this, there is a slight tune which sounds like wind.
The second title that appears on the screen is another one of the production companies, called 'Red Wagon Entertainment'. This comes on the screen fully at 0.11 seconds and lasts for 6 seconds just like the first title. Again like the first title, there is the same sound in the background of a windy type tune. After this, the next two titles that appear are the 'summit entertainment' and 'red wagon entertainment' for the second time.
The third title to appear on the opening credits is the sentence 'A Neil Burger Film'. This is the director of the films name, which comes on the screen at 0.34 seconds and lasts for approximately 3 seconds. The sound in the background has flowed from the windy tune, but it is now sounding more like a slow, calm backing track of a song.
The fourth title to display in the opening credits of Divergent is the title of the film...'Divergent'. The text of this title is a lot bigger and slightly bolder. The reason behind this title differing from the others is because it is the title of the film the audience are watching, which is probably the most important title in an opening sequence. As well as this, the sound in the background increases, which grabs the audience's attention.
Moving on to the fifth title to appear is the name of the main character of the film 'Shailene Woodley'. Her name is displayed on the screen at 0.58 seconds and lasts for two seconds. The sound in the background is the same sound which has been played for the last two titles. The font of the title is a lighter colour, making the film almost light-hearted.

The next title, which is the sixth title of the film so far, is the second main character of the film 'Theo James'. This title comes apparent on the screen at exactly 1.00 and lasts for two seconds, just like title 5. Again, the sound in the background is the same sound as the last three titles. The font of the title is a lighter colour, making the film almost light-hearted.
The next 10 titles consist of the next 10 main characters in order of how important their role is in the film and how much air time they have in the film. These titles are all with the same font as the two main characters above and they all have the same sound/tune in the background of the title.
The next title after the cast is the people who chose the cast to play the characters in the film. The title says 'Casting by Mary Vernieu and Venus Kanani'. This is still the same light font as the previous titles and the song in the background is still the same. This titles appears on the screen at 1.34 and lasts for four seconds. The next title to be presented on the opening credits is the co-producers name 'Veronica Roth' who is infact the writer of the trilogy. Her name is on the screen from 1.38 and lasts for two seconds. The font again is the same as the previous title, the sound is also matching the previous titles and the background image is the same as the title before this title.
The next title is where the film is set, in this case 'Chicago'. The font of this title has changed slightly into a more silver colour with a bolder outline to it. The background tune is still the same as it has been for the majority of the opening which is a benefit to the film as it helps it to flow well throughout. This title comes on the screen at 1.45 and lasts for about 3-4 seconds.
The title next is who the music is completed by, where as in this film it is 'Junkie XL'. This title comes on the screen at 1.52 and lasts for two seconds. The font has changed to a gold coloured tone with a shine to it and has appeared less bold as the previous title. The background picture is aof a run-down city, which could apply to the narrative that it is based in a run-down world with very little morals.
The next title is the costume designer title, who is named 'Carlo Poggioli'. This is the same font as the previous title and it appears on the screen at 1.58 and again lasts for two seconds. The sound is still the same tune as it has been.
The next important title is the names of the very important 'Executive producers which are 'John J. Kelly' and 'Rachel Shane'. Their names appear on the screen at 2.11 and lasts for 2 seconds. The font and background sound remain the same.
After these titles have been presented on the screen of the opening credits of Divergent, the directors name appears one more time to remind the audience of who should be own credit to such a gripping, thrilling film.
